The students learned how to draw with the one point perspective method and were each able to design a room of choice. Once their sketches were complete we talked about shading to create depth in images. They look fabulous!
In the photos above you will see an artist who happens to be the guest artist in residence for each 6th grade class in the entire Manitowoc Public School District. Her name is Gwen A.P. (I encourage you to look into her work) and is from the Milwaukee area. She paints along with music at various events and festivals in a surreal style and uses vibrant colors. She has often used animals as her subject matter which is where she found the inspiration to create the lesson for the 6th graders. They learned about the shapes found within animals, value (tints and shades), and color. Each of the students' paintings look wonderful!
